My internship (contd.)

hmm, quite some time i blogged. However, felt i shouldnt do the same with my blogs, what i do with my novel readings. So thought, its fair to complete my internship experience. interestingly, already its long past. ofcourse, this was not the only motivation for continuing...

hha, finally I entered the den of geeks. Too many things were running in my head, how ppl here would receive me ? and in fact, how i receive them was the biggest question. As my confidence levels are always low, i began to bother myself too much, what if i cant stand upto their expectations etc etc... in my typical manner.

And Arvind was still guiding me to my place, and meanwhile I was observing the employees and their behaviours.. actually they were perfectly normal and cool. (i say this, because, in my imaginary sarnoff, the office was full of geeks, with thick glasses, bushy hair and moving their fingers in air calculating the gaussian of every thing they see and thinking of what happens, if i convolute this with that.. aah, many more)...

Arvind: "Anil, this is another intern, deepali."
me: "Hi" (hmm, good that some fren here, that too a gal. do not really know how to talk to gals etc.
I had a gut feeling, i was not gonna finish off this internship smoothly...)
Deepali: "Hi"..
me: "since how long have u been doing this internship?"
Deepali: "aa, juss abt 2 days back we landed here"
(We ?, oh so more victims are here..., thats kinda good)
me: "So may I knw where u r from?, aa i mean, where u did ur graduation ."
deepali: "I havent done my graduation already first of all. I am from IIT-B"

oops, IIT ? and that too not one gal, many more are there.. so, this is gonna be damn fun.
"And where r u from"
me: IIIT hyderabad. (!!, saw her expression, nothing i could learn).

And suddenly, 3 more huge guyz came into her cubical, and soon learnt that they were the 'others'.
shaggy, vebhav and saurabh. all from IITs... they came to me then and they looked very cool n jovial and said hi, and the minute i replied to them, it was clear i was not as extovertic or fast as they are....
(Come on, dont atleast show that. cheerup, try to look cool.. ;) boostin myself).. we went to coffee.

First time, some good i found that, none of them had as much exposure as I had in vision or graphix, which will b the areas of work here... so seems, i can manage too. but the fact that, each of them had one 'i' less than me, kept me alert.(infact, it kept me alert till the very final week, i stayed there).

And arvind came to me again.
Arvind: "how do u find every thing, not fair to ask so soon"
me: "abb, aa yaa good, every things is fine"
Arvind: "u will b doing lotta great and interesting stuff here, u will do bla blabalh..(some grafix stuff)".
me: "oh thats defintely interesting" (not sure, what exactly am gonna do, but sth with opengl, c++, which is already learnt a little in my coursework, so managable).
Arvind: For today u dont have ne work as such. juss surf thru our sarnoff sites and mail clients, and get urself comfartable...
me: Sure, will do that arvind(could resist myself from saying sir, finally).

my internship continues...!!

I entered the grandeur office, where the receptionist in the ground floor informed that, the office was in the first floor. So i chose the lift to reach there..(though it was just abt 50 steps through stair case..).
And that was my first experience with the lift. so i was not sure about which button to press. and i just pressed some button, which actually meant nothing. there was one more person standing just besides me, who looked at it, and was finding me a bit odd ! so i realized it quickly and corrected myself, pretending as if i was just mistaken. and i reached the first floor.
I entered the office in the first floor, and finding myself in chaos as the fever had already reached the peak. I went to the receptionist and quiried

Me - " Can i meet Mr. Arvind ?"
Rec - " Just a sec.. Sorry, there is nobody with that name here sir ! "
Me - "(oops !!) are u sure, could u just lookinto it once again "
Rec - "I am pretty sure !"

Ohh god ! first stroke, .. i was beginning to feel nervous. and many things started running in my head. just then i saw the board suggesting "Sarnoff Innovative Technologies Private Ltd." on the opposite office. (Bull shit man !) I entered the opposite office, not the correct one.. OK OK.. i dont know, what else am i going to do inside the office..
I entered sarnoff(this time), and repeated the same with the reciptionist the same and found that, Arvind didnt come to office yet. So i was supposed to wait for a while. And then soon, Mr. Arvind entered the office. i could recognize him. and i was not sure how to introduce myself, though i was looking at him for my turn to speak to him.
Thank god ! he was a very cool guy. he was so cool that, infact, i forgot abt my fever for a sec. and he spoke to me very friendly..

Arvind - "Hey dude ! u r anil from IIIT?"
Me - "Yes sir ! "
Arvind - "Sir ?? no sir dude ! So whzzup ? How is Prof. PJN doing ?" (lot more questions at a time)
Me - "Yeah.. aaa.. he is doing fine "
Arvind - "Actually he had lotta good things to talk abt u"
Me -- " hmm :D ohh i see"( i felt very weird abt myself.. k fine get going dude !)
Arvind - "So come on ! i will introduce u to ppl inside "
Me - " sure sir " (sir ?? no ..)
Arvind - "this is Eniyan !"
Eniyan - " Hey dude! how u doing ?"
Me - "hmm, aa fine ! "
Eniyan - "So for how long will u be bothering us ?"
Me - (I infact, didnt listen to him properly, but i barely understood what he was asking abt ?) "aa.. about 2 months !"
Eniyan - " U r too fast man !! "
Me - aa... auch !! he said bothering .. its fine, its fine..what else can i do now !
So into the office atlast ..

This is my very first blog.

And as most people who know me well know very well that, i suck at writing such things and especially in english :D. However, just because i find some time-pass and fun in it i am continuing. And ofcourse, i have been waiting for a good oppurtunity to share my moments i faced in sarnoff.

I still remeber the saying that my lecturer used to tell that, " Usually you dont enjoy much as long as u r in the journey. once u r off the journey, u begin to enjoy every part of it ". May be i am finding it true !!

After a long await, i happened to get a sudden(!) phone interview, through which i could get through and was given the date of joining for my internship as 11th of June. I planned to go home for a day or two, and then to joing Sarnoff, Bangalore (as bangalore was very near to my home town).
On the day I started from Hyd. to my HUP, i started running slight fever. and by the time i reached home my fever reached the peak. and i was actually a bit nervous abt how i was going to deal with the things in such a prestegious company alone, that too with such health condition.
Some how, i reached Bangalore, just before the day i was supposed to report in the office, and planned to stay with my uncle and sister. My health was so bad that, i was not even able to walk through the roads to search for the company's exact location. My father accompanied me in finding it out as i was not well.
After a very long bus journey followed by a long walk, we reached the road which was suggested by the address given by the company. By that time i was abt to fell down. So my father let me sit at some place and started from there. After 30-35 mins, he came back, saying "u r gone buddy. It is damn far from here."

The struggle started !!

And the next day, though i was running high fever, i started to my office. I observed that, it was 1 hr bus journey followed by 20 Min.s walk.

God !! Here started the whole fun.

I went to the grandeur office. and my office was in the first floor. as i didnt have patience to go by stares so i chose the lift option ! ... ( continues!! )
